Tagged The Zenith Bank Aspire Music Festival, the music festival which took place last Saturday 21 September at the Harbour Point Event Centre in Victoria Island, precisely; has as its gate pass that participants be active Zenith customers, or open a Zenith account. The event started from 8 pm with thrilling performances from some of Nigeria’s A-list music artist into the wee hours of the following day.
The music festival 2019 featured top artists in the Nigerian music scene like Phyno, Niniola, Flavor, Rema, Olamide, and Mayorkun. It was a huge turnout of fans and customers alike, with tight security, even so, that a woman who lost her International passport, had it recovered moments after it was announced.
Phyno was remarkable in his show of drama, which caught the crowd mopping. Before his performance, the handsome Igbo rap artist had asked the crowd to spray him money. Nevertheless, participants had grumbled, asking if he was not the one to spray them money. Then a lad came from amongst the crowd, brandishing a 50naira note before the artist saying, “Phyno you can have this, it is from my heart.” The artist asked if really it was from his heart. When the lad proved that it was, Phyno stunned everyone when he pulled out mints of one thousand nairas and gave the bouncer to hand it over to the boy. This caused the crowd to go gaga with excitement.
In addition, young and fast-rising International artist, Rema, when he came on stage, took the moment to recount the experience he had on this same stage, which he said changed his life years back. The nineteen-year-old singer and rapper equally thrilled the crowd with his renditions. Then it was time for the gospel artists, the DJ played the songs of Tim Godfrey and Prosper Ochimaya their songs got the crowd singing. It was the popular tracks, Nara by Tim, and You the Living God by Ochimaya, combining the wave of religion and secularism in a unique way.
Then, to hit the stage afterward was popular Yoruba singer Olamide, who set the stage on fire with his hit after hit, and got the crowd singing alongside like some national anthem. The hip-hop star that had several albums and awards to his credit, rocked fans and customers alike at the festival. There was not a dull moment with him.
To come on stage after others had performed, was the light skin, multi-instrumentalist, and great stage performer, Flavour and his Ijele band. It was a show of crazy cultural display and pomp. Moreover, the artist looked extremely cute in his fleshy looks.
The Zenith music festival 2019 was not without some touch of comedy, as the anchor of the all-night performance was none other than one of Nigeria’s most hilarious comedian, Kenny Blaq, thrilling the crowd to rib-cracking jokes. The organizers of the event arranged for an all-night party after the performances, which saw the guests rocking until the early mornings.
